The CP Holiday Train Spreading Cheer in Cochrane

Yesterday was filled with joy and laughter while families gathered in Cochrane downtown, to welcome and enjoy the Holiday Train.

It was a delightful festive day. We are looking forward to being part of the upcoming edition next year. The Holiday Train is all about families and communities coming together not only to celebrate but to support a good cause.

Attendees brought a non-perishable food donation to contribute to the Cochrane Food Bank and those who need it the most this holiday season.319136128_458713836434075_8742195342094442096_n.jpg
Some visitors from the North Pole joined us to brighten up the afternoon as we waited for the CP Holiday Train's arrival. Santa, represented by our beloved Dan Kroffart, our Cochrane Mayor Jeff Genung as The Elf and a very festive Kelly Carson from the Cochrane Chamber, helped make the day even better providing candy canes and McKay's ice cream coupons to the little ones in the audience!

Cochrane Toyota is proud to support our community by providing Santa's stage and bringing over a trailer to help collect non-perishable food donations. On top of that, we were cheering up the spirits with good Christmas tunes and jingles to celebrate the occasion.

It was a very successful day when the Cochranites came together for our Food Bank. A total of $19,000 was raised, thanks to the contribution of some local businesses: $6,000 from Garmin, $2,000 from Grand Valley Safari Club, $2,000 from Cochrane McDonald's, and $500 from Cochrane Toyota. Two Pharmacy also announced the Activities as their recipient for the Community Roots program in December, an additional $4,500. And finally, the CP Holiday Train announced $4,000 more, equalling $19,000.

People enjoyed the train arrival and performances of Country music superstar MacKenzie Porter and Virginia to Vegas on the stage for a high-energy 35-minute show, interacting with the audience.
