The 2024 Cochrane Outhouse Races have come to a thrilling conclusion, and we are beyond excited to announce that Cochrane Toyota took home the win once again! 🎉 It was a day full of laughter, friendly competition, and community spirit, and we are incredibly proud to have been part of such a unique and quirky event.

A Fun-Filled Day in Historic Downtown Cochrane

On September 22, 2024, teams from across Cochrane gathered in historic downtown to compete in one of the most anticipated events of the year—the Cochrane Outhouse Races. The streets were lined with spectators who came out to cheer on the teams as they raced their homemade outhouses down First Street, chuck wagon-style!

The rules were simple, but the creativity was endless! Each team built their outhouse to include a toilet, with four people pushing and one rider sitting on the “throne” inside. This year, an exciting twist added to the challenge—only the runners could steer the cart while the rider simply held on for the ride, wearing a helmet for safety.

A Look at the Day’s Events

• 10:00 AM – 10:30 AM: Arrival & Setup
  The day began with teams arriving to set up their elaborately designed outhouses near Mackays Ice Cream. Spectators grabbed the best spots along the street, ready to witness all the action.
• 11:00 AM: Race Heats Begin
  The competition kicked off with introductions by the lively MCs, followed by several intense heats. Each team gave it their all, racing down First Street to secure a spot in the finals. The energy was high, and the excitement was contagious!
• Noon: Halftime Entertainment & Raffle
  As teams took a break, the crowd enjoyed halftime entertainment and a raffle with great prizes, all while raising funds for local organizations. The generosity of Cochrane’s residents shone through, as all proceeds will be donated by the Rocky Mountain Rotary Club to benefit local causes.
• 1:00 PM: Race Finals
  The top teams from the earlier heats returned to the course for a showdown, and after a fierce race, Cochrane Toyota crossed the finish line in first place! 🏆 It was an exhilarating moment for our team and all the fans cheering us on.
• 2:30 PM: Event Conclusion
  After the races, participants packed up their outhouses, and everyone left with smiles, proud of another successful and unforgettable day.

A Race with Heart: Supporting Local Charities

While the day was filled with lighthearted fun, the Cochrane Outhouse Races always served a bigger purpose—giving back to the community. Each team donated to register for the event, with all proceeds going to local organizations in need, thanks to the efforts of the Rocky Mountain Rotary Club. This year’s benefactor was announced during the event, highlighting the community's commitment to making a difference.

The Cochrane Outhouse Races have quickly become a year's highlight for locals and visitors alike.
